A Healthy Baby

To the Acupuncture Centre of Madison,

I am writing with great joy in reporting the full recovery of my son John, (not his real name). During the 5th month of my pregnancy with John, I received a routine ultrasound where he has diagnosed with in utero hydronephrosis. Hydronephrosis is a “stretching or dilation of the inside of the kidney. It often results from a blockage of the ureter
where it joins the kidney that prevents urine from draining into the bladder. Urine is trapped in the kidney and causes the kidney to stretch. In severe cases of hydronephrosis, damage to normal kidney function may occur. In addition, this condition may cause, pain, bleeding and infections. The surgery to correct hydronephrosis involves removing the obstructed part of the ureter and then reattaching the healthy ureter to the collecting part of the kidney.

Three days after his birth, John was given another ultrasound which showed the persistence of his condition. We were referred to a specialist at the Mayo Clinic where he received yet another ultrasound at 3 weeks of age. At that time a VCUG was performed in which a catheter and dye was inserted into his penis to determine where the blockage was originating. We were to return in 6 months to assess progression and determine further treatment.

In the interim, John and I sought weekly treatments with David, which involved needless treatment for John and regular acupuncture for me. I was given several natural remedies…John is a breastfed baby.

After returning to Mayo Clinic for a repeat ultrasound, we were told that his Hydronephrosis had completely resolved.

….John and I continue weekly treatments with David. David has been and continues to be a great healer. Our gratitude is immeasurable.
